# Games like Pokémon Go: walking games to try next

**Short answer:** The closest games to Pokémon Go are other location-based walking games such as Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now, which also use GPS and a real-world map. If you want the same "walk to collect monsters" feeling without GPS or going to specific places, try a step-powered game like Monster Walk, which turns your daily step count into progress wherever you walk.

## GPS games or step games: which do you want?

**Pick a GPS game** if the fun for you is exploring: visiting landmarks, finding things at places, and meeting other players there.

**Pick a step game** if you want every step to count without planning a route: treadmills, errands, walking the dog, bad weather, or living somewhere with few points of interest. [Monster Walk](https://www.talofagames.com/monsterwalk) reads your steps from Apple Health or Health Connect, so it also counts steps you took before you opened the app.

## FAQ

### What is the best game like Pokémon Go without GPS?

Monster Walk is a free walking RPG with monsters that counts your steps from Apple Health or Health Connect instead of using GPS, so it works anywhere, including indoors.

### Are there Pokémon Go alternatives that work indoors?

Yes. Step-powered games like Monster Walk count steps from your phone, so walking at home or on a treadmill counts.
